Kevin Toosi, MD, PhD

President and Principal Scientist
Kevin Toosi founded BioEx Consulting (initially named Pittsburgh Biomechanics) in 2008 and since has evaluated more than 3,000 accidents from a biomechanical engineering point of view. He applies the scientific and engineering methodologies generally accepted as reliable in the scientific community, and his education, knowledge, training, experience, and skills in the areas of medicine, biomechanics, and accident reconstruction to formulate his opinions regarding injury causation.

Dr. Toosi received his Medical Doctorate in 1994 and went on to practice medicine as a Primary Care Physician for more than five years before attending the University of Pittsburgh where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Bioengineering) and Master of Science in Bioengineering (Biomechanics track). He also received a Doctor of Philosophy degree (PhD) in Bioengineering (Biomechanics track) from the University of Pittsburgh, where he is currently an Adjunct Professor and teaches Forensic Biomechanics. Dr. Toosi does not practice medicine anymore; however, his medical credentials have been accepted by the US government and its agencies, and he has been awarded federal grants and fellowships to perform medical and biomedical research in the United States.

Dr. Toosi has authored or coauthored several peer-reviewed journal articles, abstracts and proceedings papers, and presented his work in many national and international conferences. He is a member of the SAE International (formerly known as the Society of Automotive Engineers) and Biomedical Engineering Society (BMES), among others. He has received five certificates in accident reconstruction from the SAE and chaired the Special Session in Forensic Biomechanics at BMES multiple times. Dr. Toosi has testified in more than 130 trials.
